How to choose the right event software

Event industry professionals are inundated with new technologies and platforms to meet their needs. So, how do you navigate the increasingly complex world of event technology? Where do you start?

As Event Technology Week is underway, we’ve got some tips on how to choose the right event technology solution for you.

Define your requirements.

This is a given. There are so many different types of platforms out there for a range of uses: event registration, data and analytics, social media engagement. So, determining your priorities is a good start to identify the kind of platform you need.

Do your due diligence.

Shop around until you find a platform that checks everything off your list. This is where good ‘ol fashioned homework comes in. Scope out multiple vendors, gather quotes and pricing options, and research vendors online. Have a look at what other people are saying about them.

Speak with other customers.

When vetting a potential vendor, it’s also a good idea to speak with other customers to get an understanding on their experience.

Ask in-depth questions.

Don’t just settle for a demo. Meet with the team and ask in-depth questions on how they can meet your needs.

  • What experience do they have with events similar to yours?
  • How will they cater to your specific needs and requirements?
  • What are some of their upcoming product updates?

Verify the support team’s reliability.

Imagine it’s the night before your event and you have an urgent question. You’ll likely want to ensure that the software provider has a reliable support team in place to answer any immediate needs.

With so many different types of solutions out there, the search starts with identifying your needs.  Just like any relationship, you want to make sure that you’re being supported. Ensure that your needs are being met and that it’s a match made in heaven.
